Ava Golf Team Finishes 1st at Mtn. Grove; 9th at Marshfield

The Ava High School golf team played at Marshfield last Thursday and finished 9th among the 18 teams participating.

Ava freshman Tristan Haltom was 6th overall with a score of 75. “Pretty good for a freshman,” commented Coach Nathan Houk. In the last three meets, Haltom has scored 71, 75 and 79, Houk said.

In team play, Lebanon finished first at Marshfield, with a total score of 308. Second was West Plains, 323, followed by Springfield Catholic 326, Lamar 329, Bolivar 336, Rolla 336, Nevada 339, Willard 339, and Ava 340.

Other teams in order of placement were Buffalo, Marshfield, Fair Grove, Hollister, Seymour, Rogersville B, Branson, Rogersville A and New Covenant.

Mitch Mather, of Lebanon was first place individual with a score of 68.

Individual scores for Ava were Haltom 75, Trey Everett 86, Dexter Fish 87, Seth Maples 91, and Jesse Dean 98.

Ava took first place at Mtn. Grove on April 16 with a score of 353.

Haltom finished in a tie for first place with three players at 79. Others with 79 were Zach Steed, of Thayer and Nathan Robertson of Liberty.

Ian Barnes, of Licking shot an 81, Kyle Wake, Willow Springs 83, Ryan Bowlin, Houston, 85 and Ben Adams, Salem, 86.

Ava’s Seth Maples (89) and Trey Everett (91) finished in the top 15 individuals.

Other team placement included Liberty 358, Thayer 359, Licking 362, Salem 368, Willow Springs 382, Houston 383, Mtn. Grove 385, Strafford 404, Gainesville 404, Alton 427 and Seymour 461.

Ava individual scores were Haltom 79, Maples 89, Everett 91, Fish 94 and Dean 97.
