FOOD!!! The 5th Sunday Feed at Sweden Church is this coming Sunday, April 29th, immediately following the morning church service. It’s not necessary to bring a covered dish. There will be plenty of food to go around. It would be a good time to come and check out the progress on the church pavilion that has begun, too. Plans are to have it completed in time for our summer celebration which is generally around the 4th of July.
There was enough ‘meat’ in the Sunday sermon to cover several Sundays, lots of food for thought. For instance, take a really good look at Matthew 8:1-13. This is where the leper is cleansed and the centurion asks to have his servant healed of palsy. This is right after the Sermon on the Mount and Jesus is coming down the mountain. Just suppose that was Sunday and Jesus has just wrapped up the greatest sermon that has ever been preached. Now it is Monday and he is coming down the mountain.
Look at verse 2 of Chapter 8. What did the leper do on Monday? He worshipped him. Could that have anything to do with being cleansed? It’s easy to worship on Sundays. Just look at the multitude that followed Jesus off the mountain. They all heard him but did they worship him? Think about it. They listened that’s for sure.
It’s not much different now than it was then. Plenty of people go to church on Sunday. It’s easy to live for God on Sunday sitting in church, but what about Monday? Watch out! Monday’s coming. Remember the old saying: going to church on Sunday and living like the devil the other six.
Sweden Church gladly gives away copies of the sermons on CD. Call (4l7)543-6219 to get a copy. Live like Jesus came yesterday, died today, and is coming back tomorrow.
