Sunday, April 22 was the Second Sunday after Easter, also known in the Anglican tradition as Good Shepherd Sunday from the Epistle reading for the day, St. John 10:11, “Jesus said, I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.: Bishop Hartley based his sermon on this reading noting that Jesus goes on to compare the good shepherd with a hereling who deserts his flock when danger approaches since they are not his. Jesus is the genuine shepherd and as long as we belong to him we are safe.
After the service we enjoyed ice cream and birthday cake in honor of Bishop Hartley, Rudy Sasko and Jennifer Berthold who all celebrated birthdays recently.
On Saturday, April 21, I drove to Norwood as guest of the Connell family to attend a performance of the musical, “Annie” produced by the Norwood School music department and we all really enjoyed the show. I am constantly impressed by the talent we have in our area and by the dedication and hard work of both teachers and students.
