We have the greatest cheering section in the entire universe, dear readers. God himself is rooting for you and, he wants you to be blessed in life and be a blessing to others because he loves you. God wants everyone who will, to come and enter into that everlasting love relationship with him and walk with him. The Bible says in Romans chapter 8, if God be for us who can be against us?
God promised the saints who lived in Old Testament times in Deuteronomy chapter 28 that if they hearkened diligently to his voice (to hear and obey) that certain blessings would come upon them, and if they didn’t hearken diligently and do as he commanded that certain curses would come upon them. Well, you may say, those curses don’t sound like God was on their side or on my side, it sounds like he was waiting for them to mess up.
God is not like that, though. Just as the love of a father inspires him to instruct his son toward good to avoid injury or calamity, God commanded his children to do things a certain way so they could avoid the curse and live in the blessing. This was necessary because this was during Old Testament times, thousands of years before Jesus took away the sins of the world by dying on the cross. But God’s love and the cross of Jesus…it went above and beyond what was sufficient.
Because of his great love for us, God went beyond what is comprehendable.
It was “unspeakable” the Bible says, which means it goes beyond our ability to describe it (2 Cor 9). The Old Testament saints had to follow the law to live in the blessing and to avoid the curse. But…at the cross, our God removed the power of the curse from our lives, forever, through the sacrifice of Jesus. Galatians 3:13 says that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree.
Jesus became a curse so you wouldn’t have to suffer the curse. As a believer, you have been redeemed from the curse of the law. To fully understand what that means, I encourage each reader to read or re-read Deuteronomy chapter. 28 and see what you have been redeemed from.
Is God rooting for us? Absolutely. He has provided our victory. Jesus himself was made a curse for you so you wouldn’t have to bear the curse yourself. God did it because he loves you and he is on your side, he is cheering for you and encouraging you. God wants you to believe that Jesus did it for you.
Until next time, God bless you and your loved ones.
