Wednesday evening we had eight people join Wednesday night service. We had good discussion and fellowship with one another.
Sunday morning we started out with prayer requests. Bro. Ed spent all last week in the hospital with double pneumonia and we pray a speedy recovery upon him so he can be back in service with us again soon. Prayers also went up for our troops overseas, our churches and Sis. Dee Dee and Bro. Mike’s upcoming arrival of Baby Samuel.
The children had six attend Sunday school. Sis. Dee Dee led the kids in study on Adam and Eve. Our adult Sunday school led by Bro. Lyndon was over John 19:12-27. We had twelve attend Sunday school.
After Sunday school the children sang two songs for us. We all joined together and sang hymns. Bro. Mike read us a special poem he wrote.
Pastor Talbert’s message for the morning was about the three important things that Christians miss and don’t grasp a hold of. 1. Church. 2. Shepherd 3. Mission and what the job or objective of the three are. 1. The church is people put together separated from the world. The church was born and came alive through Jesus. We come together as a body to work in one body, one mind and one accord. The silly things that go on in our churches and the bickerings and back stabbing takes our focus off of God and we eventually lose what our purpose is of being there. Ephesians 2:19, “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and forigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God….” 2. The first of The Shepherd is Jesus Christ Himself, but we are appointed by God under shepherds to the churches. The preachers, evenagelists, pastors are appointed as overseers to feed and guide and direct God’s people on earth. When you get mad at the preacher next time really think about who exactly it is that you are getting mad at. If that preacher is preaching the truth and you are really rebelling and getting angry with God. The preacher is just the messenger and 3, the mission. Our mission is to go and preach that Jesus is the son of God. All the other things that can go on in the churches can cause the churches to stray away. Scriptures read by Bro. Talbert during this message was from Ephesians 2:19-22, I Corinthians 12:12, 14, 18 and others. We had 30 in attendance for the morning service.
Evening service started out with prayer request. Our prayers and love go out to Bro. Johnny in his time of loss. We sang songs and heard testimonies. Our attendance for the evening was 15. Bro Talbert’s message for the evening was The Enemy of the Cross, which is why it is so important to be in unity. If we are too busy fighting about what color the curtain should be, we are obviously otherwise distracted to recognize an attack from Satan. We need to keep our eyes and our focus on Jesus. The destroyer wants to tear us down and destroy everyone because we are made in the image of our Almighty God and he hates us for that. Bro. Talbert started out in John 10:10 and also I Peter 5:8 and several other scriptures. He closed out with Luke 10:19, “Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents, scorpions and overall the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Good news people, we aren’t left without a weapon that can overcome anything.
