Smallett

Sunday morning, Christmas day, a short service was held at Walnut Grove Church with 81 in attendance.

The week has been busy with lots of family and friends gathering together for visiting, gift exchanges and lots of food. I just wish that everyone in the world was as blessed as we are with plenty of food, shelter and friends and family.

Doyne Huffman visited with Bob and Nora Edwards on Friday evening.

Bob and Nora Edwards enjoyed having the family in on Christmas Eve for dinner and gift exchange. Those present were Toby and Jacinda Sheppard, Kendra and Shelden Walker, Dallee Sheppard, Miranda Milligan, Shawn Braxton and Alexis Swearengin. Early Christmas morning Bob and Nora were awakened by a phone call saying, “We are up.” So off they went to watch Toby, Jacinda, Kendra and Shelden open their gifts. They all attended church at Walnut Grove then went to the home of Stasey and Ruth Sheppard at Willow Springs where they joined other family and friends for a dinner of more good food and gift exchange and visiting. Sunday evening, Jacinda called and said, “Do you want to come over?” They said,”I guess” thinking they were too full for another meal. She then said, “Good, bring your drill, we have a BBQ grill to put together!” So off they went again. It was a great two days for the Edwards family!

On Wednesday morning, Joe and Wilma Hamby made a trip to Yukon, Oklahoma and spent Christmas with their daughter and family, Jeromy and Darla Scheihing.

Caleb Bryan graduated from basic training in the Marines and was there too. Caleb became engaged while home on leave. His fiance spent the holiday with the family too.

On Christmas Eve the family attended a candlelight service with Jeromy and Darla, where they go to church. It was a beautiful service. Joe and Wilma returned home on Monday and had a wonderful trip.

The Rosseau family was busy all week visiting with Jack, Barb, Miracle, William and Conner Breshears one evening. I went to town with Clarice and Merrilee Michael. They were getting ready for a move to New Mexico and they left on Friday morning. Clarice was transferred in her job. We are going to miss them, they were good neighbors.

On Saturday, Christmas Eve, we had our dinner and gift exchange and those attending were Nora Hunsaker, Lee Williams, Gary and Bevy Moore, Tabitha, Raylee and Caydee Burton, Donna Bannister, Shawn, Summer and Caidence Johnson, Rusty, Becky, Hailey and Maeson Carter. Some of the family couldn’t come home for Christmas because of work or just returning from Iraq.

Delmar and I visited with Gary and Bevy Moore that evening.

One evening, Beth Stafford and Johnathan came down for supper.

On Christmas morning, Delmar and I drove to Windsor, Mo. and ate lunch with Uncle Hugh and Aunt Violet Morris. They are in the nursing home there. I took them some candies to eat and also, share. Aunt Violet seems to be doing pretty good but Uncle Hugh is failing. Herb and Judie Morris came to the nursing home and visited with us for awhile. Howard and Donna Morris had stopped by to visit them earlier. On our way home, Delmar and I stopped by and ate supper with Keith and Donna Bannister.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Bob McCleary’s mother, Mary. She was a sweet lady.

Until next week I wish you all a Happy New Year!
