Little Creek

Last Weeks News – Well here it is 5 more days to Christmas and it is hard for me to realize I, for one, do not count these as 4 more shopping days before Christmas but rather so many days left before we celebrate the most precious gift given mankind, the birth of our Savior. We all know the story but how many accept the free gift and truly live our lives in thanks for the life Jesus lived and the blood he shed for our salvation. We must all celebrate this awesome birthday reverently and with love toward one another.

My family will all be here Christmas Eve, as is our custom, for dinner together and with everyone getting one gift. The commercial aspect of what Christmas has turned into for so many does not appeal to me.

Our family and our church family will feel sadness because one year ago we lost our beloved pastor Mark Degase. He was a very special member of our family and led so many to Christ. Our family also lost Norma Frye, Jason Burkdoll, and Kenny Stout during this year. They all were cousins.

I wish all my readers and the staff of the Ozark County Times / Douglas County Herald a truly blessed holiday and a bright new year.

This Weeks News – Christmas 2011 is now past and another year about to begin.

It’s time for new beginnings with many resolutions, hopefully not too many broken.

Christmas at my house was celebrated Christmas Eve with all my family together except for J.J. and Donna who couldn’t make it. We were happy to welcome new members of our family, Kasey’s fiancée Terry and children, Steven, Monica and her boyfriend, Matt. We were all joyful and especially so because Aaron and Jody were with us, also.

Karen and I had a tiring, but happy day together Saturday cooking to make sure there was plenty of food. No need to worry because there was an over abundance. Greg prepared the turkey excellently and everyone contributed. Kasey always makes the green bean casserole with his secret ingredient, and all have their specialty.

Now we have to prepare for the wedding January 7th at Clark Church with family and friends invited.

Greg, Karen and Nikki had dinner with Greg’s mom, Norma and family Christmas Day.

Burr and Ruth had their Christmas with Misty and family Saturday morning, then with us that evening and with Amber and family Christmas Day.

I talked to sisters, Jean and Jo, who both told of Christmas season. Jean’s family missed Tony and Jo’s family who were looking forward to having their granddaughter, Kelly Jo, join them for an after Christmas visit.

The weather has been wonderful all the autumn season and now into winter. I delight in snow, but always tempered because those who have to drive to work.

Nicole and Karen had breakfast together before Nikki returned to work and school in Springfield. I was invited but declined because of a bout with arthritis making it hard to get around.

I wish better health to Darold Evans who I hear has been hospitalized with a blood clot in the leg. We all have you in our prayers.

May you all have a good new year with productivity and good health.
