Ava Rural Fire Department and Squires Volunteer Fire Department have each answered fire calls recently that resulted in total losses to structures.
On Dec. 7, Ava Rural Fire responded to the Milton Freeman residence on Girdner Road south of Ava. The City of Ava Fire Department also responded in mutual aid with Ava Rural, but the house was a total loss.
On Thursday, Dec. 15, Squires Fire Dept. answered a call to the Robert Twedt residence at the end of A Highway which also resulted in a total loss. Ava Rural Fire took a tanker to that fire to assist Squires with water supply.
Ava Rural Fire also responded to a structure fire east of Ava on Route AB Wednesday afternoon.
