Philip J. Rutherford, 89, passed away on Dec. 10, 2011 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Born in Springport, Ind., Nov. 19, 1922, he graduated from Mt Summit High School, and was a 1945 graduate of Purdue University. Philip worked in sales for Kraft Foods, Inc. in Indiana, Texas, Illinois and New Jersey prior to eight years with Creamery Package Equipment Co.
In 1965 Philip established P.J. Rutherford Associates Inc., in Chatham, N.J. He was president of the Kiwanis Club of the Chathams 1987-1988. Philip moved to Fayetteville, Ark. in 2004 and continued to run his company until December 2010.
Philip is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glena D. (Cooper) Rutherford, of Fayetteville; son, Richard A. Rutherford, and wife Dr. Margaret Rutherford, grandson, Robinson P. Rutherford, all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughter, Susan R. Devlin, and her husband, Joseph, of Derry, N.H.; sister, Rachel Farris of West Lafayette, Ind.; and a sister, Janis Emery of East Leroy, Mich..
