Timothy M. Wolfe, a longtime IBM executive and graduate of the University of Missouri school of Business, was named the system’s new president this week on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Wolfe, 53, will take over on Feb. 15. He is also the former president of the Americas for Novell.
The announcement followed a nearly yearlong search to replace Gary Forsee, who resigned in January to spend time with his ill wife. As they did with Forsee, the curators went with a president who comes with a business background.
Curators Chair Warren Erdman praised Wolfe’s extensive business experience. “He comes back to us now with national and international experience.”
The announcement was made at the Reynolds Alumni Center on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. The new president, the system’s 23rd, traveled to the other three campuses for visits this week.
