Registration for the Ava Schools Intramural Basketball Program will begin next week.
An early registration was conducted at the high school basketball scrimmage in November and if you registered there you will not need to do anything else.
Everyone who did not register early needs to register next week. Forms will be handed out Monday in the elementary and the middle schools for grades 1-6.
“It is very important that we have your forms turned in by Friday, Dec. 16 so we can order shirts and put together the teams over the Christmas break, says Ann Leonard, Ava Elementary PE teacher.
Elementary students are asked to please turn your forms and money in to your classroom teachers. Middle school students should turn their forms in to Coach Pool or Coach Stockdale.
The first Saturday for 3rd-6th grade will be on Saturday, Jan. 14 and will continue for six weeks, with the National Honor Society Tournament following the six-week program.
The 1st and 2nd grade students will begin Bear Cub basketball on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Game schedules for each Saturday will be handed out to participants in January and the schedule will be published in the Douglas County Herald each week.
The program is directed by the Ava basketball coaches and Ava High School players, and is an excellent learning process for those involved. The program will stress fundamentals, competitive participation, and sportsmanship.
The Ava basketball coaches and high school players invite your child to participate. If you have any questions you may contact Clint Gazette or Nathan Houk in the High School at 683-5747.
