JEFFERSON CITY – Michael Luerssen of Cabool, Mo., has been appointed to Missouri Farm Bureau’s Promotion and Education (P&E) Committee.
His appointment to the P&E committee was announced at Missouri Farm Bureau’s annual meeting Dec. 5 at the Lake of the Ozarks. Luerssen represents District 8 in the south central area of the state. As a member of the 10-person committee, he will help develop, implement and evaluate projects and programs that promote agriculture. The committee works to strengthen Missouri Farm Bureau and provides leadership development for all members.
Luerssen and his wife, Sandy, raise registered shorthorn beef cattle on just over 900 acres. The family also bales 12,000 small bales and up to 600 large bales of Bermuda, alfalfa and grass hay for their herd and for sale.
He is currently Texas County Farm Bureau P&E chair and has served on the Missouri Farm Bureau Forestry Advisory Committee. His family was active in the Illinois Farm Bureau before moving to Texas County. Luerssen is a Cabool School Board member. He enjoys acting in productions at the community theatre.
The couple has four sons, ages 10 to 21.
