Ava Kiwanis

We trust everyone had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!  We are “back in the swing of things” in full force for awhile now!  Last Thursday, we held our first meeting at Sonshine Cafe at NOON with several members in attendance.

On Friday December 2, we tried to host a  ”Parents Night Out”, which was slated to be 3 hours of free child care for parents to do errands or have a leisurely dinner.  Unfortunately, no one took advantage of that opportunity.

On Monday of this week, Glenda and Connie went to Plainview to award Terrific Kids there.  That event was rescheduled after our supplies were received.  Monday night, December 5 at 6pm,  members Glenda Little, Pebbles Jones, Connie Cornelius and Donna Dixon helped at the Parents As Teachers Christmas Party.  Members Glenda Little and Connie Cornelison and her sister Donna made cookies for the event.

This week, we have an evening meeting scheduled at 6pm at Sonshine Cafe.  On Friday night, you will find our locally famous funnel cake booth on the square serving up those hot, delicious funnel cakes at the Friday Night Frolic.  We will also have hot chocolate and hot coffee.  Proceeds will go toward Christmas For Kids and Scholarships For Seniors Programs.

Don’t forget our Really Big Coloring Books are at Ozark Family Vision Center selling for just $4 each. They would make a great holiday gift! A big Thank You to our friends at Ozark Family Vision Center for helping us out.

We are actively pursing new membership!  We are conducting a club membership contest which runs from November 1 until December 22.  The member who gets the most recruits to sign up with a paid membership will receive a $50 gift card.  Once a recruit is signed up with that paid membership, he or she will then be allowed to enter the contest and be in the running for the $50 gift card.  If you are interested, contact any member of Kiwanis Club of Ava.

We have already received some names for Christmas For Kids.  With the holidays approaching, we hope you’ll take time to remember “The Reason For The Season” and know that it’s not all about gifts.  Give of yourself!  The receipient will be pleased and you will be blessed!

If you have a program to present at one of our meetings, contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 for scheduling.  For all other questions about our club, please contact Glenda Little at 683-6167.
