Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase announced to media Thursday afternoon that the body of Kenny Stout, 17, of Ava was found early that morning in a wooded area near the Ava Country Club.
The Ava teen had been missing since Tuesday, and was reported missing by the Sheriff’s Department late Wednesday.
The sheriff would not say how the young man died but said the case is being treated as a homicide.
The sheriff also said three “persons of interest” are in custody and are being questioned in connection with the case. As of Thursday afternoon no one had been charged, but it was information received from one of those individuals that led authorities to the body of the teenager.
