Rome

12-5-11. We have a touch of winter here this morning December the 5th in Peckerwood Hollow. It looks like the snow is missing us up this time.

Dick and Danny Davis went over to Crain, MO. to the farm machinery auction Tuesday. That evening Kelly, DeAnn, Kinsey, Kailey, Dick and I helped Kyle Thompson celebrate his ninth birthday. We had pizza and cake. Wednesday morning Dick and I took a birthday cake to Plainview School so Kyle could celebrate his birthday with his teacher, Mrs. Cooper, and students. We stopped to visit with Helen Dobbins Monday, Dick took her some of his deer summer sausage. She says she has to limit herself from eating too much of it at a time.

Norma Cross and I went to the nursing home Saturday. We had lunch with Peggy Jenkins then we went to her room to see how she had decorated for Christmas. Randy, her son, had fixed her board about  3X3 to hang just outside her door, she used several different items and came up with God’s creation. It is beautiful. We all marveled at the ideas Peggy comes up with. Randy and Oliver, her sons, keep her with supplies. She is blind and deaf. We found Irene Richards feeling better. She was so happy to have her granddaughter, Rhonda, and her three children and she brought Russ’s two children down to see her Sunday after Thanksgiving. She said they had grown so much. Russ Ryan was down during deer season. He went up a couple of times while he was here. They all live in St. Louis.

We found Goldie Miller in her room. She wasn’t feeling to good, hopefully she is better by now. Goldie is our first cousin. Her dad was Audie Jenkins and ours was Lee. All of us think Goldie looks like our grandmother, Josie (Barnes) Jenkins. Mildred Uchman called Dick yesterday. They had a long visit over the telephone. She was at her daughter’s home for a few days. They will be taking her back to Marshfield where she has lived since her husband, Julius, passed away. It’s a place like the Ava Place. She is nearly blind, but is able to take care of herself.

Goodhope General Baptist Church had their Christmas dinner after church yesterday. I was sorry Freda Richards wasn’t feeling up to getting out. We missed Jerry and Laverne Hall. Jerry was sick. Hope all those people are okay by now.

Brother Bob and Ella Mae Huskie, and Tony Evans, were our visitors Sunday evening. Pastor David asked Bob if he would like to speak and of course Bro. Bob is always ready to preach. So as usual we enjoyed having him and Ella Mae come by anytime.

If you don’t have a church, come visit us at Goodhope General Baptist. You will be welcome. God bless.
