Middle School Bears Play Hollister, Houston

The Ava Middle School Bears traveled to Hollister to face the Tigers on Monday, Nov. 28. The Bears were victorious in the 7th grade game, winning by a score of 54-22. Ava led 21-6 after the first quarter of play and led 48-20 after three quarters of play.

Anthony Rosas scored 22 points and Peyton Ingram scored 11 points to lead Ava’s offensive attack. Zimran Lawrence scored five points; Nate Crandall, Tyler Pellham, and Colton Skyles scored three points each. Devin Elliott and Eli Maggard scored two points each to round out the scoring for the Bears.

The 8th grade Bears were defeated by the host squad by a score of 38-27. Ava led 8-5 after the first quarter, but Hollister rallied to push out to a 30-21 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Bears were unable to close the gap in the final period of play.

Austin Potts led the scoring for Ava with 11 points. The remainder of the scoring for the Bears included: Caleb McFarlin 8, Nate Bray 6, and Colton Overcast 2.

The Bears played host to the Tigers of Houston on the following night of Tuesday, Nov. 29. Ava defeated Houston 51-11 in the 7th grade contest. Nine players scored for Ava, led by 16 points from Rosas and nine points from Pellham. The remainder of the scoring included:  Ingram 6, Lawrence 5, Skyles 5, Crandall 4, Elliott 2, Maggard 2, and Blake Litwiller 2.

The Bears were defeated by the visiting Tigers 36-15 in the 8th grade contest. Ava trailed Houston 19-4 at the halftime intermission.

Colton Overcast led the scoring for the Bears with eight points, followed by three points from Caleb McFarlin. Nate Bray and Austin Potts chipped in two points each to complete the scoring for Ava.
