It’s a cold snowy Tuesday morning here in Ava. We will be quilting this morning and getting ready for Christmas dinner next Sunday.
Time has sure went fast this year and seems we just get going and the year has come and gone again.
It’s hard to get our minds on Christmas after the terrible tragedy in Seymour Monday. A father and son lost their lives at a Seymour train crossing. That family has went through a lot the last year or two. We don’t know what might happen to any of us before the day is over. Keep the Lee family in your prayers. They surely will need comfort from God and the community as they get through this.
We want to invite anyone that wants to come to our Christmas dinner this coming Sunday, December 11 after morning services.
Jerry and I traveled to Bolivar to visit his sister, Betty Huffman Marshall, last week. She is in the hospital there after hip surgery and wasn’t doing too well. We took his sister, Ruth Swearengin, with us and it was nice visiting with family we hadn’t seen in quite awhile.
We also traveled to Branson to see the Duttons Christmas Show. Last week was their last week performing until next spring. It was a very good show.
We had good weekend services. Bro. Dewitt sermon was “No Respector of Persons,” Romans 2:10-15 I Peter 1:13-25. They were very good services.
Sunday afternoon we went to the benefit at the school for Kargis family. There was a very nice dinner and music in the afternoon. The VFW and Lion’s Club and American Legion did a very good thing for this family. The community gave to help what they could to make it a suceess.
Sunday night services started at 5 p.m. and we had lots of special singing and congregational singing. Sis. Betty Hesterlee brought the evening message. She preached from I John and some from the 2nd and 3rd chapters of I John. She did a great job and we appreciate her message.
Anyone who doesn’t have a church home, we invite you to Faith Rock Church.
