11-21-11 Dear Friends: A few quick lines while I’m eating breakfast. I need to get ready so we can go to Tipton for a few reasons.
We had our family Thanksgiving early because I probably won’t be here on Thanksgiving Day. We went to Lisa’s in Fruitland. Those there were Lisa and Joe, Anita and Carl, Walt and I, Jared, Carrie and Zoie. We had a great time visiting and of course a lot of good food. We’re waiting now to hear about when we’re going to East Moline for Thanksgiving. We will then see a lot of Walt’s family members. That will be nice too. I gave Zoie her birthday present while we were at Lisa and Joe’s. I bought her a Barbie doll. I also crocheted some clothes and little throw rugs. I took some pieces of cardboard that comes in the bottom of the bottled water and put marble colored contact paper on them. This allowed it to stay in one piece, but also fold up when Zoie isn’t playing with it. I also made her a bed from a popcorn box, which was the perfect size. I covered it in brown contact paper and crocheted a bed spread in two shades of pink with a big ruffle around the edges. I then cut away part of an oatmeal box and covered it with zebra print cloth to make a high-backed chair. I also made a table from another box and bought a little tea set and it’s just the right size for the table and Barbie. I cut one end off a salt box and made a round table and made a cover for it and some more things. She was so happy and started playing with them first thing. I love to give her things because she’s always so happy to get anything. I have now started on some things to give her for Christmas. I made a little quilt last night and it has blocks about one inch square with alternating pink and a small pink print. I even put fiber fill in it and quilted it. I told Walt I’d like to have a big one like that. I also made a little pillow and stuffed it. I have a set of sheets cut out of flannel and P.J.’s for Barbie to match the sheets. I used to make all kinds of things like that for my kids, my grandkids, but this is the first I’ve made for the great-grandkids. I’m still working on the little dresses and caps I’m crocheting for little Savannah in Silvis, Illinois. I just get so far ahead of myself thinking of things I want to make for Christmas. And I know I’m not going to get near all of it done in time. Well, we’ve been in Tipton and on the way back so I have to get this finished to put in the mailbox. Walt got a call from son, Rob, last night and his wife went to Minnesota for a funeral and this morning his brother, Dee, called and he was going to one today.
Take care of yourselves and bye, bye for now.
