Winter is officially here, if the temperature this last Sunday is any kind of indicator. As cold as it was outside, it was warm in the service of the Lord and we enjoyed worship services, and would have enjoyed them even more if you had been there with us, (we are still saving a seat for you.)
The morning message was from II Samuel 16, where Shimei, of the family of Saul, came out to harass David who was fleeing from the forces of his son, Absalom’s forces. Often we “expect” people to react with gratitude for the message, but they react with disdain or utter rejection. We must keep in mind, as the apostle Paul said, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”
Our evening message was taken from I John 5:13-21 with a focus on the three things we “should” know. That, #1 the children of God stop the practice of “willful” sin, #2 those who do not serve Him do practice willful sin, and #3 the new life received is, of a spiritual nature, communicated to us through faith in Jesus Christ.
We have begun preparations for our Christmas program and we could use more willing voices, come and sing praises to the King with us.
Coming up on December 10th some of the men from Oak Grove are going to attend a Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Frontier Church, near Pontiac. If you would like to attend we will be leaving Oak Grove between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. Meet us at Oak Grove, Wasola and ride along.
