It’s amazing how fast the holidays come and go. We barely get through with Halloween and then it’s time for Thanksgiving and on to Christmas.
I must tell you, I had some wonderful Thanksgiving meals this year and memories to store for later use. It started with our Thanksgiving dinner at church, a week ago. We had ham and two turkeys and all the trimmings. We started with songs of praise and then we gave testimonies of what God has done for us and then on to the food. It was a great time of fellowship.
Thursday started off with going to the nursing home and singing “Happy Birthday” to my mother. We were headed to Arkansas to spend Thanksgiving with my brother, Stan and wife, Dottie. We tried to talk my mom into going with us, but she was too tired. We had a great two days of visiting and eating in Arkansas, and then came home. Of course, back to the nursing home we went, this time to wish my brother, Bob, a Happy Birthday.
Saturday I cooked another big meal for my own family, Dustin, Tina, Shawn, Miranda and all the kids. We enjoyed a great day of spending time together, and I thank God for giving me such a special family.
Sunday, back to church, and now it’s time to start singing Christmas songs. I really enjoy Christmas carols and we only get to sing them for about a month. Bud says they are hard to play on the guitar, and some of them say they are tough to sing. But, they all put up with me and let us do our Christmas songs.
I didn’t have very many in Sunday school this week. Some of them were out sick. I hope they all get well. It’s time to get serious abut our Christmas play practice. After all, it will be the third Saturday night in December and that is going to be here before we know it.
Our prayer list at church is also continuing to grow. Our preachers need your prayers. Donald has not been feeling very well. I think he must be a little better today, when I was talking to him awhile ago, he told me to put something in here about ( I had the best pastor ever). I told him Portia might throw something at me for telling tales in the paper. We have sure missed Portia, she has been having to work a lot of Sundays.
I better sign off for now, I don’t want to fill up the whole paper. I do want to wish you happy thoughts and find time to give God thanks for all He does for us each and every day. Take care, and may God bless you!
