The Ava Lady Bears will open their basketball season at Seymour tonight (Thursday), and with one game behind them will enter play in the annual Cabool Lady Bulldogs tournament next week.
Ironically, the Ava girls are seeded second in the tournament behind Seymour.
All first-round games at Cabool will be played Monday, beginning at 4 p.m. Ava will play Salem at 7 o’clock.
Seeded teams behind Seymour and Ava are Willow Springs, Liberty, Cabool, Mtn. Grove, Salem and Dora.
Semifinals of the Cabool Tournament will be played on Tuesday night at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
Games in the losers’ bracket will be played on Thursday, Dec. 8, and finals will be on Friday, Dec. 9.
Following the tournament the Lady Bears will play at Hartville on Monday, Dec. 12. The Ava girls will not have a game on the home floor until Thursday, Dec. 15, when they host Rogersville in a match-up that will involve freshmen, junior varsity and varsity.
