The Ava junior varsity boys started their basketball season off with a big 42-18 win against Spokane.
Ava’s scoring was led by Dexter Fish and Brandon Guengerich who had eight points each. Jesse Dean followed with six points, Cooper Emerich, Tyler Cox, and Austin Giorgianni had four points each, and Caleb Miles added three points. Seth Dobbs and Phillip Eubanks had two points apiece.
Ava held Spokane to only four points in the first half while scoring 21.
Coach Justin Gilmore said, “The junior varsity’s strong offense and defense is a product of competing against the varsity every day.”
Gilmore said the JV did a good job of applying full-court pressure and creating turnovers, which resulted in many easy buckets.
“Offensively, we took care of the ball and our shot selection was very good. I am excited about the potential of this team and hope we achieve everyone’s expectations,” Coach Gilmore added.
