The newly-constructed and much wider Beaver Creek Bridge on Highway 76 west of Ava opened to traffic last Friday afternoon. The route between Ava and Goodhope had been closed since mid-August as contractors replaced the antiquated bridge. MoDOT officials at the Southeast District Office in Sikeston said there is still some work to be done after the Thanksgiving holiday, but for now the bridge is open to traffic.
