At last week’s meeting, members welcomed Mr. Williams and November “Citizens of the Month.” We also welcomed one parent who expressed interest as well as two guests of our newest member, Paula Sweeney. In addition, Pebbles Jones was back with us and submitted her application for membership. Welcome, Pebbles!
We are happy to report that Terrific Kids presentations that have had to be postponed can be rescheduled now because our supplies have finally arrived!
We have confirmed a new service project we are excited about! On Dec. 2, we are hosting a “Parents Night Out.” On that night, parents can drop their children off at Life Church from 6-9 p.m. to do Christmas shopping, enjoy a meal out, etc. We’ll have movies for the kids with a snack. There is a limit of 30 kids and pre-registration is a must! You’ll find the form elsewhere in this newspaper. Fill it out and send it in!
Because the 4th Thursday of November is Thanksgiving Day our meeting will be canceled to allow our members spend time with their families.
We are actively pursing new membership! We are conducting a club membership contest which runs until Dec. 22. The member who gets the most recruits to sign up with a paid membership will receive a $50 gift card. Once a recruit is signed up with that paid membership, he or she will then be allowed to enter the contest and be in the running for the $50 gift card. If you are interested, contact any member of Kiwanis Club of Ava.
We have already received some names for Christmas For Kids. With the holidays approaching, we hope you’ll take time to remember “The Reason For The Season” and know that it’s not all about gifts. Give of yourself! The recipient will be pleased and you will be blessed!

With Highway House Cafe closing on Nov. 30, we needed another place to meet. Beginning Dec. 1, we will be meeting at Sonshine Cafe. Our December calendar is filling up quickly with the approaching holidays! Please check it out below and have a great week!
