Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare

Last Weeks News – Hello from our home to your home, we are having a hard time guessing the weather each day.   One day it is hot, the next day rain and then it is cold.  You gotta love the Ozarks weather.

There is a lot that goes on in our home each week.   Churches that visited with us were Ava Full Gospel , Ava General Baptist, and New Hope Free Will Baptist.   Ava Head Start visited with us Thursday .  Ms. Sandy’s class played horseshoes with the residents.   My residents are still talking about the little ones who played games with them.  We appreciate Angel Welch and Jessica Fleetwood for helping out with this activity with Ava Head Start.

The 1st Sonshine Group was here  and put on an awesome program for the residents.

We would like to welcome new residents to our home. They are Grace Irby, Carol Simmons and Sandra Anderson.

Congratulations on Maxine Turner, Melba Wilson, Ruby Fergerson and Joan Pond on getting to go home.

Marion Billups and Connie Burris took some of the veterans to the Veterans Program at the Ava Cemetery.  Everyone enjoyed the speech by Bill Henry.  Veterans going were Ray Lee, David Graf, Bill Herrington, Erich Longshore, Daryl Knapp and Leo Brooks.  After the program we went to Sonic for lunch.

Back at home residents were planning a great celebration in honor of our veterans.  In activity we made small paper flags and on each flag we put the name of a resident who had served our beloved country in any branch of the services.  These were posted on the walls of the dining room. Then we posted a long list of all the women residents who were  or had been wives  of brave men who had served in any branch of the service.   Reba and Ryder Scobba put together a program with Marlene Cobb, Tom Betchold, Darlene and Sally Sorenson.  Ryder spoke about the proclamation and the orgin of Veteran’s Day after and introduction and opening by Reba.

We were blessed with a honor guest, Roger Harmon, who came in full fatigues to visit with his mother.   He was invited up to speak and to have the audience ask questions.  Maxine Lirley read a reading she had written in honor of our veterans.    We enjoyed the following specials  “Amercia the Beautiful, “God Bless America”, “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, “This Land is Your Land”, -”This is My Country”, “When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again” and the “Green Beret.”  A Military Medley was presented and if you belonged to this branch of the service.  you stood up or waved your hands As the veterans name were called they were all recognized and honored.  The ladies who were the wives of veterans were called and recoginzed and honored- most expressively!    Darlene and Sally Sorenson sang “God Bless the USA”  and then we finished out the program with a poem that Pastor Robert Sorenson wrote and his wife Darlene recited to us.   Reba closed the service.  The Patriotic spirit was greatly moving throughout our home.

Veterans who make their home here are John Wilson, Daryl Knapp, Leo Brooks, Erich Longshore, Harold Bock,  Bill Herrington, David Graf, Ray Lee,  Ken Fitzgerald, Robert Nemeth, Magdalena Otteson,  Danny Ousley, John Garner and Eugene Hunziker. Veteran’s wives are:  Veva Hann, Billie Leonard, Peggy Jenkins, Minnie Snoddy, Dorothy Kimbler,  Leah Lee, June Silvers, Tillie Sanchez, Magdalena Otteson, Dorothy Bock, Delilah Hunizker, Georgia Graf, Ruth Hall, Delma Swain, Grace Irby, Sandra Anderson and  Gloria Harmon.
