Red Bank Church

Good day to everyone.  It’s a little blustery and cool out today.  A good day to stay inside if one had been battling allergy problems.  Ever since the leaves have been falling from the trees, I start sneezing when I stick my head out side the door.  I’m hoping that situation will get better soon.

The Sunday services at Red Bank Church was well attended last Sunday.  Brother Jake Hampton led the morning hymns.  Brother Jerry Huff welcomed members and guest along with introducing the Sunday school lesson which was entittled, “Stand For the Lord.”  Celebrating his birthday with a mission offering was Bill Holland.  Bill wasn’t able to attend church yet, so he sent his birthday offering by way of a friend, Gary Lirley.

Brother Les reminded everyone that the annual, Thanksgiving Dinner, at Red Bank will be held on November 20, after services.  We will bring a dish of our favorite recipe and share it together.  Come and join us in this fellowship time.

The morning sermon was taken from Mathew 6:6 and II Kings 4:4.  There is power in prayer, with faith that God will answer.  In Matthew we find that Jesus gave explicit instructions for calling upon God in prayer.   He said if we have need of anything to call upon our Father in Heaven in secret and He which seeth in secret shall reward us openly.  He added that we should not pray with vain repetitions, as the heathen do, to be heard for their much speaking,   In these Scriptures, Jesus also reminds us that our Father knoweth what things we have need of, before we even ask him.  What comfort it gives me to know that my Father in Heaven knows all about me, and is just waiting for me to ask Him and trust Him for my needs.  He promises me that He will provide all that I need; and He does.

The funeral for Larry Hampton was well attended.  Larry was loved by all his family and friends.  Brother Vernon Fuller and Brother Kevin Pittman did a beautiful job of bringing to light that everyone in Larry’s life was considered a part of his family, but more importantly that Larry was a part of God’s family.  He will be missed by all who knew him for his great big wonderful smile and his warm, generous heart.

Take care and don’t forget to pray. ” The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  James 5: 16
