Ava Kiwanis Club News

At last week’s meeting, members enjoyed meeting Brenda Hambelton who presented a very good program on blood pressure program for us. Each member received a free blood pressure check and tips to keep it at a healthy level.

We were scheduled for a Terrific Kids Presentation today at 2:30 at Ava Elementary, however, that had to be postponed because our supplies are still on back order. We hope to get them in very soon and reschedule those we’ve had to miss.

Some of our members are planning to attend the Chamber Luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Bethany Baptist Church.

Our monthly evening meeting will be held this week on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.  Hopefully, members who cannot come to noon meetings will come out and join us.

November Citizens of the Month will join us for a noon meeting on Nov. 17.  Calen VanNess who is the high school Key Club sponsor hopes to attend on that day as well giving us a chance to be more in touch with Key Club which is part of the Kiwanis family.

Because the 4th Thursday of November is Thanksgiving Day our meeting will be canceled to allow our members spend time with their families.

Calendar of Events:

Nov. 8 Chamber Luncheon at NOON at Bethany Baptist Church.

Nov. 10 Evening Meeting at 6 p.m.

Nov. 17 Citizen of the Month Luncheon.

Nov. 24 Thanksgiving Day–NO MEETING.

Membership Drive Is On

We are actively pursing new membership!  We are conducting a club membership contest which runs from Nov. 1 until Dec. 22. The member who gets the most recruits to sign up with a paid membership will receive a $50 gift card.  Once a recruit is signed up with that paid membership, he or she will then be allowed to enter the contest and be in the running for the $50 gift card. If you are interested, contact any member of Kiwanis Club of Ava.

If you have a program to present at one of our meetings, contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 for scheduling.  For all other questions about our club, please contact Glenda Little at 683-6167.
