Max “Goldie” Roberts, 58

Carval Max Roberts, 58 years, 9 months, and 0 days old, passed to heaven on Oct. 28, 2011 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo.

Max was born January 28, 1953 in Paris, Tenn., to Dorsie and Mary Elna (Simpson) Roberts.

On July 8, 1972, Max and Linda Aid were united in marriage in Dogwood, Mo., at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, and to this union two sons were born. Max lived most of his life in the Squires community.

He was a truck driver along with Linda for over 30 years. He was employed with Donley Feed for 15 years. He always said, “There ain’t no feelin’ like cow mobilin.” He had a passion for his work.

Max was a member of the Church of the Living God in Ava. He enjoyed drag racing with his boys, telling stories and spending time with all his grandchildren.

Max was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Ronald Roberts.

Max is survived by his wife, Linda Roberts, Squires, Mo.; two sons and their spouses, Byron and B.J. Roberts and Brandon and Lacy Roberts, all of Ava, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brittney, Brett, Braydon, Hallie, and Brock; one great-grandson, Colton; two brothers, Tyron and Paulette Roberts, Newbern, Tenn., and Eric and Pat Roberts, Apple Valley, Calif.; his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Frances Aid; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Max were Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2 p.m., at in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Ellison Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating were Pastor Gary Moore and Pastor Ronnie Pinckney. Memorials may be made to Ellison Cemetery or Gideons International.
