Last Weeks News – Hello from our home to your home. We have started a new jig-saw puzzle on the puzzle table. This is the first one started since the Golden Age Games. It looks like a good one and will proably be on the table for a few weeks for all to have a part in putting it together. We would have worked on it last night but Daryl Knapp ran a movie for us. It was a comedy and really hilarious, it kept us laughing all evening which was really what we need to round a good day! Yorik the Wonder and his owners were visiting with residents. Residents love all animals.
On Monday we enjoyed Bible Study with Bro. Tom Hawkins, followed in the afternoon with games and Reading by Ms. Joyce Clinkingbeard and Sophie.
Tuesday morning Connie Burris was back from vacation with many stories to tell us. A trip to the Glade Top Trail and Sonic was enjoyed by Daryl Knapp, Maxine Lirley, Lena Carline, Norma Kennedy, Bill Herrington and Peggy Jenkins. The colors were so beautiful and we enjoyed talking about other trips residents had made to the trail. In the afternoon games were called by Evelyn Harper and a large crowd played the games. Darlene Sorenson called games and played several rounds of horseshoes with the residents. Bill and Jeannette Cardin visited with several people in the afternoon.
Another trip was taken to Glade Top Trail and Sonic. Residents going were Anna Worthy, Dorothy Kimbler, Helen Allen, Wilda Bench and Jo Englehart. We appreciate Ruth Evans for going on the trip with us. Connie Burris went to Redbud Village for their monthly dinner and after dinner time everyone played several rounds of games with Charles and Carolyn Robinson, Linda Suits, Rae Kerr, Loretta Brooks, Edna Frye, Emmalyn Stephens and Norma Jones. Ryder and Reba Scobba called games for the residents and then board games were enjoyed by several.
Fall Family Night was a great success. The music was presented by Rod Humbyrd and his friends. The music was enjoyed immenseley all evening as friends and family just kept arriving and being served all the good things to eat that had been well prepared by the dietary staff. Many kinds of pie to choose and all delicious with drinks of one’s choice, visiting and rejoicing and a little dancing the aisles! It was contagious! Some just had to jig a little! It was a very delightful night.
Friday morning was quiet and restful early in the day until the 1st Sonshine Group brought music and liveliness to us at 10:30 until lunch. Congratulation on Edgar and Sharon Stewart’s wedding anniversary. We hope they have many more. In the afternoon we had a large group fo a rousing games .
Saturday morning dawned a beautiful day and started with a good breakfast and through exercise and therapy sessions with many visitors. Music was by Norma Stillings and the church service was brought by Bro. Tom Hawkins. We had the joy of having Connie Burris, with us on this day along with her dear granddaughter, Brooklyn, who was so proud that she is growing some new teeth having lost some that her Grandma Pie had pulled for here. A new one is already showing on the bottom center area. Such a beautiful little girl. Also, Mindy Stout’s little boy, Austin visited us and helped serve lunch and drinks. The Kingdom Kids was here with some great gospel music from the church who blend together to come and visit with us. Reba Scobba was in the buliding playing music on Q-chord. So thankful for groups like this!
After supper we were shown an interesting movie, “Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farm.” We retired at 10 p.m. for a good night’s rest.
Sunday is always a good day with much coming and going among the residents. Some go out to regular services, but some stay for Bible Study with Larry Moore. He has been coming to lead Sunday School for many years. He is a minister and in years passed had pastored several churches. His daughter, Becky, is a missionary to some tribes in Africa and carries on a Christian School there. We pray for the work there as she has recently been troubled the aging war of depression, thievery, government and having food to feed the people over there.
We have a delicious roast beef dinner and rested a while before First Southern Baptist was here for the afternoon service. Mt. Tabor Church was here at 4:00 to minister to the residents.
Our prayers and sympathy are with the family of Agnes Uhlman. Tonya Cutbirth and Connie Burris attended her funeral. Pastor T.J. Stout did an wonderful job telling about the life of Ms. Agnes.
