Harlan Dale Davis, 68

Harlan Dale Davis, 68 years, 2 months, and 9 days old, passed to heaven on Oct. 20, 2011, in Ava, Mo.

Harlan was born Aug. 11, 1943 in Yakima, Wash., to Clifton Dale and Lela (Shinpaugh) Davis.

Harlan lived most of his life in the Ava area. He worked as a logger, in masonry, a carpenter and in a sawmill.

He was a member of the Evansdale Community Church.

Harlan enjoyed and was known by many for playing and singing at music shows and events. He loved to see and help young people get started playing music. Harlan would be happy fishing, hunting and just spending time outdoors. He loved the Lord.

Harlan was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Lynn; twin stillborn brothers and an older brother, Robert Leroy Davis; nephew, Kraig Wayne Davis; and a niece, Latricia Clem.

Harlan is survived by his father and stepmother, Clifton and Grace Davis, Ava, Mo.; five children and their spouses, Harlan Douglas and Dianna Davis, Rogersville, Mo., Cathy Ann and Wayne Trigg, Rogersville, Mo., Sheila Jo and Dale Garrison, Norwood, Mo., Billy Dale and Misty Davis, Ozark, Mo., and Heather Dawn Davis, Ava, Mo.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Gerald Wayne and Linda Davis, Mansfield, Mo., Harold Dean Davis and Laverne Karen Farris both of Ava, Mo., Lavone Kay and Dan Carmickle, Sparta, Mo., Ronnie and Doris Pinckney and Donnie Pinckney, all of Wasola, Mo., and Linda Joyce and Roy Presley, Pleasant Hope, Mo.; several nephews, nieces and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Harlan were Monday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating were the Revs. Ron Pinckney and Dale Garrison. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
