The tragedy that hit Joplin last spring was devastating for that area. But what many don’t realize is that the effect of the Joplin tornado reached into this region as well, as supplies available to local food pantries were greatly diminished.
Ozarks Food Harvest that helps provide staples for Heart of the Hills Food Harvest in Ava, and others in the area, had to ration what is made available to area food pantries to make sure there was enough to go around.
In an effort to help provide for Heart of the Hills Food Harvest in Ava and Kings Food Pantry of Seymour, the local TOPS group is sponsoring a car and bike show and craft fair this Saturday at the Mansfield Saddle Club.
There will be classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and “trikes.”
There will be live music by One for the Road Band from Mtn. Grove, and there will be a special tribute to veterans.
The event, co-sponsored by Mansfield Saddle Club and National TV Sales and Rental, will open to the public at 11 a.m., with a special tribute to veterans at 12 noon.
There will also be drawings for prizes throughout the day and concessions will be available.
Car and truck entry fee will be $30; entry in the bikes and trikes division will be $20. Winners in each division will receive 50 percent of the pots.
Proceeds of the event, minus costs incurred, will go to the two area food pantries.
