Caney Church News

October 19 – We sang our openning hymn Wednesday evening at Caney.

Bro. Jeff Shipley welcomed all. He took prayer requests. Bro. Jim Lafferty led in prayer. Jeff asked the question, “Why?”

He read Romans 8:28, and several out of Acts. Things happen and we ask, “Why but some where some how God will make good of it and get glory from it. A very good discussion was had with all reading God’s word and giving interesting thoughts.

Sunday school opened with singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone. Prayer requests and praise reports were given. Sis. Lorrinda Coulter led in prayer. Jack read Genesis 2:18-24 for our devotion.

After Sunday school Happy Birthday was sung to Shane Morgan. Our little ones sang for us. Testimonies were given by Jim Lafferty and Jeff Shipley. Sandra did a reading.

Praise and Worship began with singing. Jim Lafferty, Melissa Harmon and Hannah Morgan all did a special singing. A special altar of prayer was had for the burdens of the church family. Pastor Bill Austin spoke from Matthew 12:42 and Hebrews 11:35-40. What a wonderful place God has prepared for us. Greater than anything man can think or build. If welcome to Jesus His way we can go there. We may not be famous, but Jesus will know us.

After a wonderful service we had lunch blessed by Maddie Shipley.

We had a great time on the hayride. We were blessed to be in service with the other churches that had their hayrides. A beautiful day in weather in fellowship in the Lord.

October 26 – Wednesday evening service at Caney began with singing. Bro. Jim was our leader tonight. He took prayer requests. We have lots to pray for. Sis. Melba led us in prayer. Bro. Jim taught from Matthew 24:15-31. Everyone read scriptures and we had a real good Bible discussion. Sis. Janice had a nice group of young people in her class. Her group made some beautiful cards for Bro. Bill and Sis. Melba for “Pastor Appreciation Week.” They are posted on the front wall of our church. Another blessing our church is giving thanks for is the fact that Bro. Roger Harmon will be home from the military services tomorrow. We msut keep praying for all our servicemen. Bro. Hi will be our leader next week. We were dismissed in prayer by Bro. Hi.

Jack read James 5:7-11 for our devotion. We welcomed Roger Harmon home after one year in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was an answered prayer. We thank God for those who service our nation. Sis. Tracy Shipley led our young ones in song. Testimonies were given by Jeff Shipley and Jim Lafferty.

Praise and Worship began with singing. Singing special music was Melissa Harmon. Pastor Bill Austin spoke this morning from Matthew 12:38-41 and Jonah 1:1-2. The Lord is speaking to you. Are you listening? Are you calling on the Lord? Our nation needs to turn to the Lord as does our state, country, city and home. When the word of the  Lord comes to you, do it.

Are we telling others about Christ and their need to repent? Are we following Christ so others can know the way Christ wants a church. Lets help it grow.We invite you to come to Caney. We are a Bible believing church. Service times are: Sunday morning at 10 a.m. worship at 11:00, Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
