Ava General Baptist Church

Sunday morning found us in the Word and the scripture was from Matt.18:1-14.  Jesus talked about keeping our priorities straight, watching so we don’t stumble and are not a stumbling block to others and to help others and ourselves away from those temptations.  He also talks about leaving the 99 sheep in the fold for that one lost sheep.  I am so glad that He doesn’t want any of His flock to lose their way and be lost forever.  He loves all of us, despite our sinful nature.  We have to help each other to stay focused on what’s important and to always walk in Christ so others can see Him in us.

We extend a special invitation to all! Please visit us this Sunday as we set aside a special day to remember all the friends we love.  We want to share in the Lord’s day with worship and fellowship.  We have an extra hour of sleep remember so don’t forget to set your clocks back on Saturday night.  Our services on Sunday morning are either 8:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m.  We really are excited to see you!

Please pray for the Roberts family in this time of sorrow.  We have other prayer needs such as Brandon Reese, Ellen Lakey, Joan Pond, Gail Adams, Lawrence Thompson and all those who are in nursing homes and home bound.

We appreciate everyone in our church who serves with time and talent for our Lord.  We sometimes forget those in the background who dedicate their time and they commit themselves to serving God by serving the church. I know they serve out of their love for God, not for recognition, but they are important and we appreciate that.

We appreciate those who faithfully teach Sunday school each week, those who play instruments for our worship services and participate in choir and special music, those who clean up after us, those who lovingly sit with our children in nursery and those in Children’s church who teach our youngsters.  We appreciate our youth leaders who give of their time each Wednesday night because they care so much about our youth and their walk with Christ.  And of course we can’t forget Pastor Oren Alcorn and his wife Donna along with our Associate Pastor Dwain Moore and his wife Gloria. Remember to Pray for them and for each other.

Don’t forget to come in for Choir practice on Sunday nights at 5 p.m.  We need you and God needs to hear all our voices.  What a special offering we can give to God by singing praises and being filled with the hope and joy of His birth.

Give each other a hand this week and uplift each other.  Seek out God by seeking out his Word.  We hope to see you Sunday and God Bless.
