A 4-year-old child who fell from a moving vehicle was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Heath E. Kirklin, 4, was a passenger in a 1990 Chevrolet pickup driven by Heath E. Kirklin, 28, of Ava.
It was reported that the passenger door came open as the vehicle entered a curve on Route DD, three miles west of Highway 76 in Douglas County, allowing the toddler to fall out.
The incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. and was investigated by Tpr. J.R. Roberts, of the Highway Patrol.
The child was not restrained, the report said.
