When ballots were cast for the all-district tournament team following the Class 3, District 10 softball tournament, Ava had almost enough members on the roster to field a team.
Eight Lady Bears received all-tournament nods following the tournament here two weeks ago.
Four Lady Bears received first team recognition and four were named to the all-district second team.
It was also revealed this week that two Lady Bears, Kelsey Regennitter and Abbie Lansdown have made the All-Region 1st team. This team is a combination of Districts 9,10.11,and 12 in softball.
All-district 1st team selections include:
Pitchers: Andrea Studer, junior, Reeds Spring, Ashlyn Mitchell, senior, Ava; and Rachel Phelps, Sr., Mtn. View-Liberty.
Catchers: Marley Harmon, junior, Reeds Spring; and MaKenna Smith, senior, Mtn. View-Liberty.
Infield: Kelsey Regennitter, senior, Ava; Hailee Mason, senior, Reeds Spring; Sydney Mason, junior, Reeds Spring; Kaitlyn Berry, junior, Forsyth; Cheyenne Johnson, senior, Mtn. View-Liberty; and Payton Lakey, senior, Ava.
Outfield: Abbie Lansdown, senior, Ava; Amber Lund, senior, Forsyth; and Morgan Cantrell, freshman, Reeds Spring.
2nd Team All-District
Pitchers: Alyssa Jasper, senior, Forsyth; and Mikayla McGoldrick, junior, Hollister.
Catcher: Kayla Dougherty, junior, Ava.
Infield: Sam Retherford, sophomore, Reeds Spring; Bryanna Parham, junior, Reeds Spring; Darra Reed, senior, Mtn. View-Liberty; Melissa Coonts, junior, Ava; and Morgan Emerich, senior, Ava.
Outfield: Hannah Johnson, junior, Ava; and Kayleen Stevens, sophomore, Reeds Spring.
Reeds Spring defeated Ava to win the District 10 tournament here, but lost to Sullivan in the next round of play on Oct. 12.
Sullivan defeated Nevada on Oct. 15, and lost to Chillicothe in the state semifinals on Friday, Oct. 21.
Centralia then defeated Chillicothe for the Class 3 state championship at Springfield’s Killian Complex on Saturday.
