Ava Drug was featured in the New York Times on Sept. 21, with a story and picture in the A Section and a lead-in picture on the front page of the Times. The lead-in picture was Cecelia Shea, the daughter of Drug StoreĀ employee Andrea Shea.
Because of the publicity in the times, the store has received several phone calls and cards. One of the cards was from a gentleman in Connecticut. This gentleman sent $500 to help support the ice cream kids in any way the management might choose.
Part of his money was used to provide snacks for the five students in the kindergarten class at Thornfield Elementary School. Ava Drug was glad to be able to provide for these students and appreciates the interest and concern Miss Jana has for the students in her class.
