Ava Kiwanis Club News

Our club actually had two meetings on Thursday, Oct. 20. In our regular noon meeting we welcomed David Williams and October “Citizens of the Month.” They are regularly scheduled to meet on the 4th week, however, scheduling conflicts were forced to reschedule their visit and we enjoyed having them.

At our 6 p.m. nighttime meeting, members gathered for Kiwanis Officer Installation Dinner and Ceremony.  We were joined by our 2011-2012 Division 18 Lt. Governor Don Truitt from Mountain Home, Ark., who shared some personal introduction information with us and outlined some plans and goals he has for this Kiwanis year.

On Monday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m., Glenda and Donna went to Skyline School, accompanied by Cindy Potts from McDonalds, to do a Terrific Kids Presentation.  We had a presentation scheduled on Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at Plainview Schools, however, supplies are on back order, so that presentation will be rescheduled when supplies are received.

We do not have a program scheduled for this week’s noon meeting, however, our club will be making a donation to the Newborns In Need Baby Shower at Douglas County Health Department on Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. prior to the noon meeting.

If you have a program to present at one of our meetings, contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 for scheduling.  For all other questions about our club, please contact Glenda Little at 683-6167.
