Summer weather is extended into October and we are really needing some rain showers which are predicated for this week. Leaves cover the ground.
Crows have been busy under my pear trees as the pears have been falling and crows are after them.
Best wishes to Dorothy (Climer) Davis, of Lawrence, Kansas who had cataract eye surgery last Wednesday. Former residents of the Udall and Bakersfield area, they keep in touch through our news columns.
Dana (Davis) Taylor visited me Wednesday and helped with some jobs and had lunch.
Our neighborhood lost a good friend, Paul Breyne, last Wednesday evening in a Springfield hospital. Our sympathy is with wife, Judy, and his daughter and son. His service is this Tuesday. Paul had his 78th birthday September 22nd and their third anniversary was on that day.
The Three County Extension Club Meeting (DOW) was held in Mtn. Grove Tuesday. Lilly Ridge Friendly Neighbors organized in 1934, and I believe is the oldest still active with 24 paying members. Some live away and can’t attend meetings.
Attending the 137th session of Eastern Star Grand Chapter, in Columbia, MO. were 28th District members, Paralee Rea, DDGM, Bobby and Imogene Grisham, Jerry Marsh, PGM, Jon Baltz, Claude and Doris Malone, DDGM for 2012, and Tom and Mary Martha Williams, from Ava, and the theme was “Wishing on a Star.”
We will be getting back our lost hour of sleep Sunday morning, Nov. 6th, as Daylight Savings Time ends this year.

The First Baptist Church in Gainesville has started practice on the Christmas Cantata, Lou Arta Corbin told me Sunday night.
Marlyn Pitcock came from Forsyth on Monday and did more repair jobs on the house for me while the weather was nice. In fact it was a summer day.
