Rome

Dick and Pauline Richards, Norma Cross and Kenny Hunt met J.D. and Angie Todd and Vi Twibble at Shoney’s in Ozark Wednesday the 5th to help Vi celebrate her 92nd birthday. She was the daughter of the late George and Dora Applegate.

The Plainview basketball girls lost their game at Mark Twain Tuesday evening and won their game Friday night to Thornfield, the boys won theirs also.

The scene at the Goodhope General Baptist Church Friday evening was a big fish fry, music and fellowship. Pastor David Welch brought 70 lbs. of fish. No he didn’t catch them, he bought them. Besides David the cooks were Kenny Goin, Mike Woodall and Jerry Hawkins. There might have been others while I was inside. Laverne Hall, Janice Hawkins and Anna Goin were frying potatoes and etc. Other people brought food. We sure had a feast. While all the above was going on, Glen Dale Robertson , Art Hampton, Danny Johnson and a man and his wife and children from Gainesville were picking and singing outside. We all went inside at 7 p.m. to eat. After eating we took chairs out to listen to more music. The Lord provided perfect weather for us. We didn’t get a head count, but estimated 75 to 80 people. Several came up after the ball game at Plainview.

Dick and I attended the 125th anniversary of the Mt. Tabor Church Saturday. There was a large crowd. They also had lots of food and good music and a beautiful day. Our church went to the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center Sunday the 9th. We always enjoy visiting with everyone there.

David Welch has been preaching at the Goodhope General Baptist Churh for almost a year. He will be ordained Sunday the 16th at 2 p.m. We invite everyone to come and join us for the occasion.

God bless everyone.
