Nola Jones, 92

Nola Jones, 92 years, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 6, 2011 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo.

Nola was born Jan. 23, 1919 in Sneedville, Tenn., to Landon and Mary (Stanifer) Winkler.

Nola was a resident of the Ava community and formerly of Mansfield, Mo. Nola and Leroy Jones were united in marriage and to this union two children were born. They shared 45 years together.

Nola had worked for MFA Grocery Store and also was a secretary for Empire Gas in Mansfield, Mo.

She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in Tennessee. She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible and gospel singing. Before ill health she enjoyed making a garden, canning and quilts. You never went to her house without having a piece of pie and a cup of coffee. She loved her family and grandchildren. Nola was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Everyone that knew her loved her. She was a caring and giving person. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Nola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy in 1992; four sisters, Mae Pope, Ada Crow, Bertha Cravens and Martha Winkler; and one brother, MackĀ  Winkler.

Nola is survived by a daughter, Connie Cornelius, Ava, Mo.; a son, Donald Lee Jones and wife, Jan, Springfield, Mo.; three grandsons, Jeff Cornelius and wife, Jo, Mansfield, Mo.; Kevin Cornelius, Ava, Mo. and Darrel Cornelius and wife, Jeri, Kirbyville, Mo.; six great-grandsons, Dustin, Joshua, Jason, Cody, Kyle and Dallas Cornelius; three great-granddaughters, Lacey, Christina and Amy Cornelius; one great-great-grandson, Hayden Cornelius, one brother, John Winkler, Mansfield, Mo.; two sisters, Thelma “Duck” Cravens, Mansfield, Mo., and Shirley Bogart, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Nola were Monday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Hensley Cemetery, Mansfield, Mo. Visitation was Sunday, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Buddy Boyd. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
