Church of the Living God

Sunday morning, October 9 –God has blessed us with beautiful weather for two full weeks. Praise the Lord for that.

Morning special prayers were asked for Connie and Leah Lee; Max R.; Becky Burton; Lorraine Chance; Cheyenne, a twelve year old; Larry Chance and Zelda Graham.

Morning message by the Pastor was started in Acts 2:1, ” and when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.” The key words, to me, in this scripture, is “were all in one accord.”

Family gatherings, church and social functions, its almost impossible to have everyone in one accord, conflict, murmerings and hot temper. Its sad also this happens in our churches too. There has to be unity in our church or God will not abide there. Read Romans 12:16, it tells us how we need to act to our fellow brothers and sisters. “Avenge not yourselves, vengeance is mine, I will repay saith the Lord.”

We have a wonderful promise from God, John 14:1-3, He goes to prepare a place for you and will come again, our part in this promise is make sure our sins have been washed in the blood and we are ready.

Our evening service started out with prayer requests for James Brown, Reba N. and Zelda G.

We had a good song service, several special songs by Linda P. and Missy B.

We were blessed by having around ten young people in the morning and evening service. They worked on one of the lady’s yard. She is ill and cannot do it herself. God bless the young people who are willing to give of themselves and work for the Lord.

Chad E. was our messenger for the evening.

James 1:2 tells us count it all for joy when ye fall into divers temptations. Some people say, “the devil doesn’t tempt me, everything is pretty good.” Maybe he already has you! What ever trial or temptation, God will provide a way of escape, never doubt that.

I Corinthians 10:13 bears that statement up, “God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able so why do we worry and stress? God is faithful!

Resist the devil and he will flee from you, stand on God’s word, quote the Bible to him, pray.

You can’t serve God half-way. You are either in or out. You are either a Christian or you’re not. You cannot sit on the fence! Chad said when you are down, discouraged, weak, tired – go to Psalms 146, “Praise ye the Lord. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help.” An appeal for a holy life read I Peter 1:13-16.
