Wanda Laverne Silvey, 72

Wanda Laverne Silvey, 72, of Ava, Mo., passed to heaven on Oct. 3, 2011, at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava. She was born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Longrun, Mo.,, the daughter of Merl and Dortha (Brewer) Silvey.

Wanda was a graduate of Gainesville High School class of 1956. A year later, she got her degree in cosmetology. Wanda taught beauty school in Wichita, Kan., and was a beauty operator for 35 years. She loved to sing, play the guitar and piano. She also loved to write poems. Wanda was a Christian. She was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Longrun General Baptist Church.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Merl and Dortha Silvey; one sister Jean Herd; and one son, Vince Wayne Myers.

She is survived by her children Jimmy Ratliff and Jennifer of Gainesville, Mo., Shawnda Teague of Ava, Mo., Tamie Jo Stockdale and Mark of Yellville, Ark., and Mischelle Strong and Lonnie of Gainesville, Mo.; nine grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother H.K. Silvey of Longrun, Mo.

Funeral services for Wanda were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, Mo., with Dale Roberts officiating. Visitation was Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial was in the Longrun Cemetery.
