Rainbow Ridge News

Billy Fletcher and Edgar and Sharon Stewart drove to Mountain Grove, Wednesday, and ate at the Hay Loft. They visited with Georgia Mae Smith and Dorman afterward. Billy and his Aunt Jean Daugherty drove to Marshfield, Saturday afternoon and had supper with Dennie and Barbara Whittaker.

A notable thing that happened last week in Rainbow Ridge was the placement of new three-way stop signs on 13th Street at 4th Avenue and 9th  Avenue. The four-way stop signs on 12th had resulted in the slowing of traffic there, but 13th Street had a long stretch with no stops. The 15 mile-per-hour signs were either ignored or invisible to some motorists who were still driving too fast.

When you live on a street where you must back out into traffic, where you stand in the street to open your mailbox, where people like to jog or walk and children like to play, you appreciate the efforts to slow the traffic. It takes longer to get home, but makes home nicer when you get there.
