Lenvil Royce Clinton, 74

Lenvil Royce Clinton, son of the late Charley and Orpha (Thornton) Clinton, was born on March 31, 1937 in Topaz, Mo., and departed this life on Sept. 30, 2011, at his home near Vanzant, Mo.  He was 74 years of age.

Lenvil grew up in the Willow Springs area and graduated with the Willow Springs High School class of 1955.  He was united in marriage to Carol J. Welton on March 19, 1956 in Twin Bridges, Mo.  Three children were born to this union.

Lenvil was an honest man who knew the value of hard work.  He was employed with the Douglas County Road and Bridge Department and had retired in July 21, 2011.  He was also a farmer.  He enjoyed spending time on his farm working with his team of horses.  He also enjoyed square dancing.  Lenvil’s greatest passion was his family.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Lenvil accepted the Lord as his Savior in December 2003 and was baptized on Aug. 1, 2010.

Besides his parents, Lenvil was preceded in death by a son, Royce Dean Clinton; and three brothers, Leon, Leroy, and Stanley Clinton; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Inez Welton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Clinton; one son, Marty Clinton and his wife, Ronda, of Vanzant, Mo.; one daughter, Penny Medlock and her husband, David, of Vanzant, Mo.; one brother, Randy Clinton of Twin Bridges, Mo.; three sisters, Joyce McDonald and her husband, Robert, of Dora, Mo., Bernice Gasperson and her husband, Gerald, of Mtn. Grove, Mo., and Ruth Sheppard and her husband, Stasey, of Twin Bridges, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Jill Cain and her husband, Caleb, Tommy Medlock and his wife, Shelah, Amy Cook, John Medlock, Sarah Cooper and her husband, Travis, Emily Medlock, Abner Medlock, Micaiah Medlock, Ginny Robinson and her husband, Josh, and Nick Clinton; 15 great-grandchildren, Charley, Opie, Henry, Teddy, Dandy, Savannah, Caulene, Cyrus, David, Josephina, Elmer, Suzy Q, Penny, Jedidiah, and Jamie; a sister-in-law: Oleta Clinton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will greatly miss him.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. in the Little Zion Church in Texas County with Rev. Keith Reese and Rev. Gail Scherer officiating. Ruth Collins, and Glen Goss and Friends served as singers and musicians.  Song selections were “Old Rugged Cross,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “My Friend.” Pallbearers were Nick Clinton, Tommy Medlock, John Medlock, Caleb Cain, Josh Robinson and Travis Cooper.  Abner Medlock and Micaiah Medlock served as honorary pallbearers.  Burial was in the Little Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn.
