Quad Cities

9-26-11 – Things have been fairly quiet around here, I guess. A little rain off and on. The only measurable amount we’ve got so far is one-fourth of an inch. It’ raining today so I guess I’ll work on things inside this morning. We tried to fix the hole in the roof where the coons were getting in, but our method didn’t work so we have to come up with another one. For some reason the pilot light on the furnace won’t stay lit, so I guess I’ll have to get help. It’s not too cold now except at night, but it won’t be long now until we’ll be getting some cold weather.

I had to go to the doctor in Tipton Saturday morning so the doctor could see the shingles on one side of my neck, head and ear. I’ve always heard they were painful and now I know first hand. The medicine the doctor gave me for the pain and one to keep it from getting worse are helping and it’s getting a lot better.

Berta got over her sinus infection, but Rob has still got his and still sick. He said he’s getting tired of chicken soup.

We’ve still had two little hummers out here, still fighting over the feeder. I guess they know when to leave, but I’m not sure. I saw the little chipmunks gathering dead grass so I guess it must be making a den for winter. It was a little baby to start out this spring, but still not very big. I do not know what happened to the rest of the chipmunks and the ground squirrels. I sure do miss seeing them.

Anita and Carl had to call someone out to work on theirfurnace and it’s working now.

Well, I just can’t think of anything of interest to write about so I guess I will get this poor excuse for a letter ready to mail.

Oh yes, I’m one of the subscribers that don’t know when I’m going to get my Herald. Sometimes I get it on Saturday after it’s published on Thursday then soemtimes I don’t get it for a whole week and week before last I got the September 15 issue and then last week I got the September 8 issue. I don’t know what the heck caused that. I’m not even sure I get all of them. I remember one week I never did get it. It sure is a mystery what causes it to happen that way.

So take care of yourselves and bye, bye for now.
