Norwood Area Gleanings

A revival will start at the Oak Forest Church a few miles south of Norwood on Hwy. C, October 3-7. Bro. Donald Potter will be the speaker. It will start at 7 p.m. each night. There have been no services there for a while. If you can come, it will be appreciated by all.

Kenny Haigler has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duey Haigler and while here, he built a ramp across the way to the house from the road. It is a good looking one and cemented to stay put and be good for the kids crossing.

Yesterday was Farmer’s Day at Norwood. They had two very interesting parades. So many participants. There was such a large crowd that attended. I saw so many friends that I don’t see often. They had nice booths, especially the ones that served lunch. The entertainment was fine. Many gifts were received by the crowd from the tickets they purchased. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Those gatherings are so nice for the community.

I went to the emergency room at St. John’s Friday afternoon. I had fallen for no reason and my family insisted I go. They took many expensive tests (poor Medicare) but found I have a kidney problem that might cause the fall. I fall quite often but I usually know why. I don’t have far to fall and am pretty well cushioned. I have some bruises. I’ve got a problem with a sore on my shin that doesn’t want to heal. Don’t remember how I hurt it. The doctor was quite concerned and I’ve been doctoring it regularly. It may be some better, I hope. If I could see better, I’d be in pretty good shape. I’ll be 87 the 10th of October. The Almighty and His Son have been good to me.

Bro. Wayne Russell has been working awhile in Texas as his company sent him there. He was back home this weekend. His congregation here at Norwood made it okay with messages he had recorded. He wasn’t gone long. His family stayed here.

I enjoyed visiting with Mrs. Joan Gray of Mountain Grove while I was at the doctors last week. I hadn’t seen her in many years. I know another Jo Anne Gray at Macomb.

It’s good to see the sunshine this afternoon. I know the rain is very important but night is a good time for that.

Lloyd and Larry Bradshaw cleaned my carpet and did a great job. I just found out recently they have equipment and do that. I sure appreciated it.

Lu Ann Kochis has been helping me and she does a good job. I’m so thankful for some good help. There comes a time when you need it.

Summer is gone, fall is here and winter’s soon to be. I’m not looking forward to it as I did when I was young. Time flies so fast. It seems to go faster as you age, but I’m sure it doesn’t. Spring is my favorite season. They’re all good if we look at them right. They don’t last very long anyway.
