September Ava High School Citizens of the Month are seniors Ashtin Stillings and Jeffrey Smalley. This month’s word theme was Citizenship.
Ashtin Stillings, daughter of Tim and Laura Stillings, is involved in FFA and National Honor Society.
After high school, Ashtin plans to attend college.
She was nominated for Citizen of the Month because, “She is involved in the Douglas County Fair Board, her church, FFA, and is in NHS. She volunteers to run the cook wagons at both the fair and Foxtrotters along with many other responsibilities for her church. In addition, she is always helping others, obeying laws and is always respectful,” says AHS teachers.
Jeffrey Smalley, son of Paula and Travis Sweeney, is involved in Pep Club two years, FBLA two years, and football.
After high school, Jeff plans to attend college and major in engineering.
His teachers say, “Even though he moved in during the middle of high school he has done an outstanding job at getting involved in everything! He participates in local clubs, sports, works in the community and willingly volunteers to help. He worked at the fair to help raise money for the prom and junior class even though he is a senior.”
