Ava Kiwanis Club News

Members enjoyed spending time with David Williams and September “Citizens” of the Month” at last week’s meeting. Some good input was received from them as well.

On Saturday, some members worked at the Fall Farm Classic & Demolition Derby selling funnel cakes, bottled water and iced tea from.  Glenda Little, Connie Cornelius, Dolores Davis, Rick Baker, Diane Taylor and Donna Dixon worked that event.  Now our booth will be moved to the football field where we will partner with Project Graduation helping them raise money at the last three home games of the season.

Please join us for Kiwanis Kids Day which has been set for this Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  A number of organizations have confirmed their participation and several area businesses have given us food prizes to give away. For more information, please contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918.

At this week’s meeting, our Lt. Governor, Jim Brisco will be in attendance to present us with the “Champions For Children” award, which he nominated our club to receive from Division 18.  That will be an exciting day!  Since that will be the last meeting of the Kiwanis year, we will also be looking into ways we can improve our service and impact in the area. Come, join us!

We are looking for a good program for Officer Installation meeting on Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Highway House Cafe.  If you have a program or a suggestion, contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918.

Note to Members: Remember–membership confirmations and money are due by Sept. 30 if you would like to remain on the roster of Kiwanis Club of Ava.
