Ava Community Playground

Less than 2 weeks left! In just over 12 days we’re building a playground! We’ve been preparing for this event over the past 17 months and the time is upon us. If you haven’t signed up on our volunteer list, now is the time. You do not want to miss out on this opportunity of a lifetime.

For those of you keeping up with the project, we did indeed win 2nd place in the Craftsman Park Rehab Contest that was running on Facebook. Placing 2nd did not get us the $10,000 we were hoping for, but it did get us just over $1,000 worth of Craftsman tools that will come in handy during build week. We appreciate those who voted for the playground project.

Speaking of tools… We are still in need of tools for the build, everything from hammers to heavy equipment. We especially need drills and heavy-duty extension cords. Your tools will be under 24-hour surveillance and locked-up when not in use. We promise your tools will be returned in as good, or better condition as when you lent them to us, or we will replace them —guaranteed. Contact our tool coordinators: Lacey or Zac Slagle at 683-1781.

Community built, builds community. This playground is for everybody, it’s for children, it’s for adults, and it’s for everybody. When all is said and done, it will be 15,000 square feet of fun.  The playground will bring joy to generations of children and being part of the building process is something many of our volunteers will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Volunteers are still needed and you can sign up at www.avaplayground.com or you can email avaplayground@live.com with your contact information. You don’t want to miss the fun!
