Lois Nadine Hicks, 79 years, passed to heaven on Sept. 20, 2011 at her home.
Nadine was born Jan. 20, 1932, in Douglas County, Mo., to George and Oma (Lansdown) Davis.
Nadine was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. On July 16, 1960 Nadine and Curtis Wayne Hicks were united in marriage in Ava, Mo., and to this union six children were born.
Nadine was a Christian. She enjoyed working in her garden, quilting, sewing, her dogs, Tiny and Rocky, and most of all taking care of all her grandchildren. Her joy was her family.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Hicks; four children, Jeanette Dobbins, Jeffery Hicks, Jeannie Hicks and Joyce Dobbins; a grandson, Kurtis Lee Hicks; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Dobbins; and a sister, Leva Potter.
Nadine is survived by her seven children, Joannia Ingram of the home, Judy Hicks and Dennis, Jerry Hicks and Nylene, all of Ava, Mo., Jennifer Ratliff and Jimmy, Gainesville, Mo., Carolyn Hutchison and Darrel, Ava, Mo., Jr. Dobbins, Fordland, Mo., and Janet Lawson, Mtn. Grove, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Burton, Harrison, Ark.; one brother, Kenny Davis, Climax, Kan.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Nadine will be Friday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Marvin Loftin. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
